Chapter 75: Bharata’s Conversation with Kausalyā-devī

एवमुक्त्वा सुमित्रां सा विवर्णा मलिना कृशा।
प्रतस्थे भरतो यत्र वेपमाना विचेतना॥
evam uktvā sumitrāṁ sā vivarṇā malinā kṛśā
pratasthe bharato yatra vepamānā vicetanā
evam = thus; uktvā = having spoken; sumitrām = to Sumitrā; sā = Kausalyā; vivarṇā = Queen Kausalyā was discolored; malinā = she had not kept herself very clean; kṛśā = and emaciated; pratasthe = went to; bharataḥ = Bharata was standing; yatra = where; vepamānā = she was trembling; vicetanā = and senseless [in distress and anger].
Having spoken thus to Sumitrā, Kausalyā went to where Bharata was standing. Queen Kausalyā was discolored and emaciated. She had not kept herself very clean. She was trembling and senseless [in distress and anger].
