Chapter 76: Bharata Performs the Final Rites for Daśaratha

विधवा पृथिवी राजंस्त्वया हीना न राजते।
हीनचन्द्रेव रजनी नगरी प्रतिभाति मा।।
vidhavā pṛthivī rājaṁs tvayā hīnā na rājate
hīna-candreva rajanī nagarī pratibhāti mā
vidhavā = is a widow; pṛthivī = the earth; rājan = O king; tvayā = you; hīnā = without; na = not; rājate = and does look graceful; hīna-candrā = devoid of the moon; iva = like; rajanī = a night; nagarī = the city; pratibhāti = appears; mā = to Me.
O king, without you, the earth is a widow and does not look graceful. The city appears to Me like a night devoid of the moon.
