Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 77: Bharata and Śatrughna Lament About Daśaratha’s Departure
Text 2.77.16

अवदारणकाले तु पृथिवी नावदीर्यते।
या विहीना त्वया राज्ञा धर्मज्ञेन महात्मना॥

avadāraṇa-kāle tu pṛthivī nāvadīryate
yā vihīnā tvayā rājñā dharmajñena mahātmanā

avadāraṇa-kāle tu = although this is the time for dissolution; pṛthivī = earth; na = does not; avadīryate = break apart; = the; vihīnā = without; tvayā = you; rājñā = a king; dharmajñena = who knows dharma; mahā-ātmanā = and a great soul.

Without you, a king who knows dharma and a great soul, the earth does not break apart although this is the time for dissolution.

[According to Bharata,] it was the time for dissolution, for the earth was now devoid of the king, a great soul who knew dharma, that is, a king enriched with such auspicious qualities.
