Chapter 77: Bharata and Śatrughna Lament About Daśaratha’s Departure
Text 2.77.17

पितरि स्वर्गमापन्ने रामे चारण्यमाश्रिते।
किं मे जीवितसामर्थ्यं प्रवेक्ष्यामि हुताशनम्॥

pitari svargam āpanne rāme cāraṇyam āśrite
kiṁ me jīvita-sāmarthyaṁ pravekṣyāmi hutāśanam

pitari = now that My father; svargam = to Svarga; āpanne = has gone; rāme = Rāma; ca = and; araṇyam = of the forest; āśrite = has taken shelter; kim = how; me jīvita-sāmarthyam = can I live; pravekṣyāmi = I will enter; huta-aśanam = fire.

Now that My father has gone to Svarga and Rāma has taken shelter of the forest, how can I live? I will enter fire.
