Chapter 78: Śatrughna Punishes Mantharā
Text 2.78.10
शत्रुघ्नश्च तदाज्ञाय वचनं भृशदुःखितः।
अन्तःपुरचरान्सर्वानित्युवाच धृतव्रतः॥
śatrughnaś ca tadājñāya vacanaṁ bhṛśa-duḥkhitaḥ
antaḥ-puracarān sarvān ity uvāca dhṛta-vrataḥ
śatrughnaḥ ca = Śatrughna; tat = these; ājñāya = upon hearing; vacanam = words; bhṛśa-duḥkhitaḥ = and extremely distressed; antaḥ-puracarān = of the inner quarters; sarvān iti = to the guardians; uvāca = He then spoke as follows; dhṛta-vrataḥ = was firm in His vows.
Śatrughna was firm in His vows and extremely distressed upon hearing these words. He then spoke to the guardians of the inner quarters as follows.
