Chapter 79: Bharata Prepares to go With His Army to Meet Rāma
Text 2.79.7
ज्येष्ठस्य राजता नित्यमुचिता हि कुलस्य नः।
नैवं भवन्तो मां वक्तुमर्हन्ति कुशला जनाः॥
jyeṣṭhasya rājatā nityam ucitā hi kulasya naḥ
naivaṁ bhavanto māṁ vaktum arhanti kuśalā janāḥ
jyeṣṭhasya = that the eldest son; rājatā = become the king; nityam = always; ucitā hi = it has been deemed appropriate; kulasya = dynasty; naḥ = in our; na = not; evam = like this; bhavantaḥ = you; mām = to Me; vaktum arhanti = should talk; kuśalāḥ janāḥ = you are expert [and so].
In our dynasty, it has always been deemed appropriate that the eldest son become the king. You are expert [and so] you should not talk like this to Me.
