Chapter 79: Bharata Prepares to go With His Army to Meet Rāma
Text 2.79.15
एवं ते भाषमाणस्य पद्मा श्रीरुपतिष्ठताम्।
यस्त्वं ज्येष्ठे नृपसुते पृथिवीं दातुमिच्छसि॥
evaṁ te bhāṣamāṇasya padmā śrīr upatiṣṭhatām
yas tvaṁ jyeṣṭhe nṛpa-sute pṛthivīṁ dātum icchasi
evam = thus; te = You; bhāṣamāṇasya = who have spoken; padmā = residing on a lotus; śrīḥ = the goddess of fortune; upatiṣṭhatām = may always bless; yaḥ tvam = because You; jyeṣṭhe nṛpa-sute = to the eldest prince; pṛthivīm = the earth; dātum = to give; icchasi = wish.
May the goddess of fortune residing on a lotus always bless You who have spoken thus because You wish to give the earth to the eldest prince!
“To the prince” refers to the eldest son of the king 3.
