Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 79: Bharata Prepares to go With His Army to Meet Rāma
Text 2.79.16

अनुत्तमं तद्वचनं नृपात्मजप्रभाषितं संश्रवणे निशम्य च।
प्रहर्षजास्तं प्रति बाष्पबिन्दवो निपेतुरार्यानननेत्रसंभवाः॥

anuttamaṁ tad vacanaṁ nṛpātmaja-
prabhāṣitaṁ saṁśravaṇe niśamya ca
praharṣajās taṁ prati bāṣpa-bindavo
nipetur āryānana-netra-sambhavāḥ

anuttamam = the fine; tat vacanam = speech; nṛpa-ātmaja-prabhāṣitam = delivered by the prince; saṁśravaṇe = promising [to bring Rāma] 4; niśamya ca = upon hearing; praharṣajāḥ = of tears; tam prati = [while they looked] at Him; bāṣpa-bindavaḥ = drops of tears; nipetuḥ = fell; ārya-ānana-netra-sambhavāḥ = from the eyes of those noble citizens.

Upon hearing the fine speech delivered by the prince promising [to bring Rāma], drops of tears of joy fell from the eyes of those noble citizens [while they looked] at Him.

GLOSS. Saṁśravaṇe indicates that Bharata’s statement that Rāma should be brought [back] was worth hearing.
