क्वचिद्वर्षनिवेशार्थं मठा वेदिविभूषिताः।
क्वचिदापणपण्यानि पथि कृत्वार्थराशयः।
दर्शयांचक्रुरत्यर्थं जनाः केचित्पुरे यथा॥
kvacid varṣa-niveśārthaṁ maṭhā vedi-vibhūṣitāḥ
kvacid āpaṇa-paṇyāni pathi kṛtvārtha-rāśayaḥ
darśayāṁ cakrur atyarthaṁ janāḥ kecit pure yathā
kvacit = in some places; varṣa-niveśa-artham = to shelter [people] from rains; maṭhāḥ = small residences; vedi-vibhūṣitāḥ = ornamented with platforms [were set up]; kvacit = in some places; āpaṇa-paṇyāni = several markets and shops; pathi = on the roads; kṛtvā = set up; artha-rāśayaḥ = items for sale; darśayām cakruḥ = and displayed; atyartham = prominently; janāḥ kecit = some people; pure = in the city; yathā = like.
In some places, small residences ornamented with platforms [were set up] to shelter [people] from rains. Some people set up several markets and shops in some places on the roads and prominently displayed items for sale like in the city.
