Chapter 88: Bharata Laments About Rāma’s Predicament
Text 2.88.28
वसन्तं भ्रातुरर्थाय शत्रुघ्नो मानुवत्स्यति।
लक्ष्मणेन सह त्वार्यो ह्ययोध्यां पालयिष्यति॥
vasantaṁ bhrātur arthāya śatrughno mānuvatsyati
lakṣmaṇena saha tv āryo hy ayodhyāṁ pālayiṣyati
vasantam = when I reside [in the forest]; bhrātuḥ = of My brother; arthāya = for the sake; śatrughnaḥ = Śatrughna; mā = with Me; anuvatsyati = will live; lakṣmaṇena saha tu = with Lakṣmaṇa; āryaḥ = noble Rāmacandra; hi ayodhyām = Ayodhyā; pālayiṣyati = will protect.
“Śatrughna will live with Me when I reside [in the forest] for the sake of My brother. Noble Rāmacandra will protect Ayodhyā with Lakṣmaṇa.
