Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 89: Bharata Crosses Gaṅgā and Reaches Prayāga
Text 2.89.9
उत्तिष्ठत प्रबुध्यध्वं भद्रमस्तु च वः सदा।
नावः समनुकर्षध्वं तारयिष्याम वाहिनीम्॥
uttiṣṭhata prabudhyadhvaṁ bhadram astu ca vaḥ sadā
nāvaḥ samanukarṣadhvaṁ tārayiṣyāma vāhinīm
uttiṣṭhata = wake up; prabudhyadhvam = get up; bhadram astu ca = may there be auspiciousness; vaḥ = unto you; sadā = always; nāvaḥ = the boats; samanukarṣadhvam = haul; tārayiṣyāmaḥ = we have to have [them] ferried across; vāhinīm = the river.
Wake up! Get up! May there always be auspiciousness unto you. Haul the boats. We have to have [them] ferried across the river.
In some manuscripts, tārayiṣyāmi appears instead of tārayiṣyāma in which case the last sentence would mean, “I have to have [them] ferried across the river.”
