मनसा ध्यायतस्तस्य प्राङ्मुखस्य कृताञ्जलेः।
आजग्मुस्तानि सर्वाणि दैवतानि पृथक्पृथक्॥
manasā dhyāyatas tasya prāṅ-mukhasya kṛtāñjaleḥ
ājagmus tāni sarvāṇi daivatāni pṛthak pṛthak
manasā = with full concentration; dhyāyataḥ tasya = when he unceasingly meditated; prāṅ-mukhasya = his face turned to the east; kṛta-añjaleḥ = and his palms joined in supplication; ājagmuḥ = appeared; tāni sarvāṇi = all of those; daivatāni = celestial beings such as Viśvakarmā; pṛthak pṛthak = individually.
When he unceasingly meditated with full concentration, his face turned to the east and his palms joined in supplication, all of those celestial beings such as Viśvakarmā appeared individually.
1 Notice the respect the sage has for the celestial beings. Though he is capable of punishing them if they didn’t appear in front of them, he is respectful to them by joining his palms in supplication. Varṇāśrama-dharma is a culture of respect.
It is thus stated here that joining one’s palms in supplication is the gesture for calling [such celestial beings].1 The celestial beings then individually became visible to the sage.
