Chapter 91: Bharadvāja’s Hospitality to Bharata, His Army and Family
Text 2.91.25
ततोऽभ्यवर्तन्त घना दिव्याः कुसुमवृष्टयः।
दिव्यदुन्दुभिघोषश्च दिक्षु सर्वासु शुश्रुवे॥
tato ’bhyavartanta ghanā divyāḥ kusuma-vṛṣṭayaḥ
divya-dundubhi-ghoṣaś ca dikṣu sarvāsu śuśruve
tataḥ = then; abhyavartanta = poured; ghanāḥ = dense 2; divyāḥ = celestial; kusuma-vṛṣṭayaḥ = showers of flowers; divya-dundubhi-ghoṣaḥ = the sound of celestial dundubhis; ca = and; dikṣu sarvāsu = in all directions; śuśruve = could be heard.
Then dense showers of celestial flowers poured and the sound of celestial dundubhis could be heard in all directions.
GLOSS. Ghanāḥ [literally] means “clouds.” It should be understood that the clouds, though possessing the nature of showering water, showered flowers by the influence of Bharadvāja’s austerities.
