Chapter 91: Bharadvāja’s Hospitality to Bharata, His Army and Family
Text 2.91.55

इक्षूंश्च मधुलाजांश्च भोजयन्ति स्म वाहनान्।
इक्ष्वाकुवरयोधानां चोदयन्तो महाबलाः॥

ikṣūṁś ca madhu-lājāṁś ca bhojayanti sma vāhanān
ikṣvāku-vara-yodhānāṁ codayanto mahā-balāḥ

ikṣūn = sugarcane; ca = as well as; madhu-lājān = parched grains mixed with honey; ca = and; bhojayanti sma = fed them [those foodstuffs]; vāhanān = the draught animals; ikṣvāku-vara-yodhānām = of the fine warriors of the Ikṣvāku dynasty; codayantaḥ = induced to eat; mahā-balāḥ = very strong men.

Very strong men induced the draught animals of the fine warriors of the Ikṣvāku dynasty to eat sugarcane as well as parched grains mixed with honey and fed them [those foodstuffs].

The men were very strong upon being empowered by the sage Bharadvāja.
