Text 2.91.56
नाश्वबन्धोऽश्वमाजानान्न गजं कुञ्जरग्रहः।
मत्तप्रमत्तमुदिता चमूः सा तत्र संबभौ॥
nāśva-bandho ’śvam ājānān na gajaṁ kuñjara-grahaḥ
matta-pramatta-muditā camūḥ sā tatra sambabhau
na = did not; aśva-bandhaḥ = the horserider; aśvam = his horse; ājānāt = recognize; na = nor did; gajam = his elephant; kuñjara-grahaḥ = the mahout; matta-pramatta-muditāḥ = intoxicated, careless and delighted; camūḥ sā = because the army; tatra = at that time; sambabhau = appeared.
The horserider did not recognize his horse nor did the mahout his elephant because the army at that time appeared intoxicated, careless and delighted.
The army drank intoxicants and so lost their discrimination regarding what to do and what not to do. They were delighted because of garlands, sandalwood pulp and other [items of] enjoyment.
