Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 92: Bharata Departs for Citrakūṭa
Text 2.92.29
न दोषेणावगन्तव्या कैकेयी भरत त्वया।
रामप्रव्राजनं ह्येतत्सुखोदर्कं भविष्यति॥
na doṣeṇāvagantavyā kaikeyī bharata tvayā
rāma-pravrājanaṁ hy etat sukhodarkaṁ bhaviṣyati
na = do not; doṣeṇa = fault; avagantavyā = should find; kaikeyī = with Kaikeyī; bharata = Bharata; tvayā = You; rāma-pravrājanam = exile of Rāma; hi = because; etat = this; sukha-udarkam = greater happiness; bhaviṣyati = will bring about.
Bharata, You should not not find fault with Kaikeyī because this exile of Rāma will bring about greater happiness.
Bharata should not find fault with Kaikeyī since she was impelled by the devas [to carry out their mission]. The great sage who knew the past, present and future considered that Rāvaṇa would be killed and so said that Rāma’s exile would bring about greater happiness for the devas and others.
