ततो वाजिरथान्युक्त्वा दिव्यान्हेमपरिष्कृतान्।
अध्यारोहत्प्रयाणार्थी बहून्बहुविधो जनः॥
tato vāji-rathān yuktvā divyān hema-pariṣkṛtān
adhyārohat prayāṇārthī bahūn bahu-vidho janaḥ
tataḥ = then; vāji-rathān = their horses and chariots; yuktvā = prepared; divyān = divine; hema-pariṣkṛtān = decorated with gold; adhyārohat = and got on them; prayāṇa-arthī = desirous of departing [to meet Rāma]; bahūn = many; bahu-vidhaḥ = several different groups of; janaḥ = people.
Then several different groups of people desirous of departing [to meet Rāma] prepared their many horses and divine chariots decorated with gold and got on them.1
1 The commentator points out that in some manuscripts yuktān appears instead of yuktvā but there is no significant change in the meaning of the verse.
