वृतो महत्या नादिन्या सेनया चतुरङ्गया॥
sa sampratasthe dharmātmā prīto daśarathātmajaḥ
vṛto mahatyā nādinyā senayā catur-aṅgayā
saḥ = the; sampratasthe = proceeded; dharmātmā = dhārmika; prītaḥ = happily; daśaratha-ātmajaḥ = son of Daśaratha; vṛtaḥ mahatyā = with His large; nādinyā = and loud; senayā = army; catur-aṅgayā = fourfold.
The dhārmika son of Daśaratha happily proceeded with His large and loud fourfold army.
Nādinyā (“loud”) indicates that the army shouted, [the horses] neighed, the elephants [roared] and so on.
