Chapter 93: Bharata Initiates a Search for Rāma’s Residence
Text 2.93.21
भरतस्य वचः श्रुत्वा पुरुषाः शस्त्रपाणयः।
विविशुस्तद्वनं शूरा धूमं च ददृशुस्ततः॥
bharatasya vacaḥ śrutvā puruṣāḥ śastra-pāṇayaḥ
viviśus tad vanaṁ śūrā dhūmaṁ ca dadṛśus tataḥ
bharatasya = Bharata’s; vacaḥ = words; śrutvā = upon hearing; puruṣāḥ = men; śastra-pāṇayaḥ = with weapons in hand; viviśuḥ = entered; tat = that; vanam = forest; śūrāḥ = courageous; dhūmam = smoke [in the sky]; ca =and; dadṛśuḥ = noticed; tataḥ = then.
Upon hearing Bharata’s words, courageous men with weapons in hand entered the forest and then noticed smoke [in the sky].
