क्वचिन्मणिनिकाशोदां क्वचित्पुलिनशालिनीम्।
क्वचित्सिद्धजनाकीर्णां पश्य मन्दाकिनीं नदीम्॥
kvacin maṇi-nikāśodāṁ kvacit pulina-śālinīm
kvacit siddha-janākīrṇāṁ paśya mandākinīṁ nadīm
kvacit = in some places; maṇi-nikāśa-udām = whose water resembles pearls; kvacit = at other places; pulina-śālinīm = who abounds in sandy beaches; kvacit siddha-jana-ākīrṇām = and who is crowded with men fixed on attaining the perfection of their spiritual practices preparing to immerse themselves in her water; paśya = look at; mandākinīm nadīm = the river Mandākinī.
Look at the river Mandākinī whose water resembles pearls in some places, who abounds in sandy beaches at other places and who is crowded with men fixed on attaining the perfection of their spiritual practices preparing to immerse themselves in her water.1
1 Siddha-jana has been translated here as “men fixed on attaining the perfection of their spiritual practices” in accordance with the commentary on text 13 where siddhaiḥ has been paraphrased as siddha-sādhana-niṣṭhaiḥ.
