Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 95: Rāma Describes Mandākinī’s Beauty to Sītā
Text 2.95.10

निर्धूतान्वायुना पश्य विततान्पुष्पसंचयान्।
पोप्लूयमानानपरान्पश्य त्वं जलमध्यगान्॥

nirdhūtān vāyunā paśya vitatān puṣpa-sañcayān
poplūyamānān aparān paśya tvaṁ jala-madhyagān

nirdhūtān = shaken and; vāyunā = by the wind; paśya = look at; vitatān = scattered on the banks; puṣpa-sañcayān = the flowers; poplūyamānān = floating; aparān = the other flowers; paśya tvam = look at; jala-madhyagān = in the midst of the water.

Look at the flowers shaken and scattered on the banks by the wind. Look at the other flowers floating in the midst of the water.

It is hinted [here that Mandākinī] is comparable to a woman whose clothes have been pulled by her beloved husband.1

1 This explains the scattering of the flowers. This is a further development of the metaphor.
