Chapter 95: Rāma Describes Mandākinī’s Beauty to Sītā
Text 2.95.16
लक्ष्मणश्चापि धर्मात्मा मन्निदेशे व्यवस्थितः।
त्वं चानुकूला वैदेहि प्रीतिं जनयथो मम॥
lakṣmaṇaś cāpi dharmātmā man-nideśe vyavasthitaḥ
tvaṁ cānukūlā vaidehi prītiṁ janayatho mama
lakṣmaṇaḥ = Lakṣmaṇa; ca api = and; dharmātmā = His mind is devoted to dharma; mat-nideśe = to My commands; vyavasthitaḥ = He is obedient; tvam = you; ca = and; anukūlā = [whereas] you are favourable to Me; vaidehi = dear Vaidehī; prītim janayathaḥ mama = make Me happy.
Dear Vaidehī, Lakṣmaṇa and you make Me happy. His mind is devoted to dharma and He is obedient to My commands, [whereas] you are favorable to Me.
Śrī Rāmacandra implies here that a good brother and a favorable wife constitute a tonic for happiness.
