Chapter 96: Lakṣmaṇa Notices Bharata’s Army
Text 2.96.28
कैकेयीं च वधिष्यामि सानुबन्धां सबान्धवाम्।
कलुषेणाद्य महता मेदिनी परिमुच्यताम्॥
kaikeyīṁ ca vadhiṣyāmi sānubandhāṁ sabāndhavām
kaluṣeṇādya mahatā medinī parimucyatām
kaikeyīm = Kaikeyī; ca = also; vadhiṣyāmi = I will kill; sānubandhām = her attendants; sabāndhavām = and relatives; kaluṣeṇa = sin 4; adya = today; mahatā = of a great; medinī = let the earth; parimucyatām = be cleansed.
I will also kill Kaikeyī, her attendants and relatives. Let the earth be cleansed of a great sin today.
“Her attendants” were Mantharā and so on.
