Chapter 97: Rāma Instructs Lakṣmaṇa

भरतेनापि सन्दिष्टा सम्मर्दो न भवेदिति।
समन्तात्तस्य शैलस्य सेना वासमकल्पयत्॥
bharatenāpi sandiṣṭā sammardo na bhaved iti
samantāt tasya śailasya senā vāsam akalpayat
bharatena api = [in the meanwhile] since Bharata; sandiṣṭā = had ordered; sammardaḥ = disturb Rāma’s āśrama; na bhavet iti = don’t; samantāt = around; tasya śailasya = the mountain; senā = the army; vāsam akalpayat = it encamped.
[In the meanwhile] since Bharata had ordered the army, “Don’t disturb Rāma’s āśrama,” it encamped around the mountain.
[Therefore] the army encamped around the mountain, not near Rāma’s āśrama.
