Chapter 97: Rāma Instructs Lakṣmaṇa
Text 2.97.30
अध्यर्धमिक्ष्वाकुचमूर्योजनं पर्वतस्य सा।
पार्श्वे न्यविशदावृत्य गजवाजिरथाकुला॥
adhyardham ikṣvāku-camūr yojanaṁ parvatasya sā
pārśve nyaviśad āvṛtya gaja-vāji-rathākulā
adhyardham = a distance of more than one and a half; ikṣvāku-camūḥ = that army of the Ikṣvākus; yojanam = yojanas; parvatasya = the mountain; sā = that; pārśve = by; nyaviśat = settled; āvṛtya = covering; gaja-vāji-ratha-ākulā = filled with elephants, horses and chariots.
Filled with elephants, horses and chariots, that army of the Ikṣvākus settled by the mountain covering a distance of more than one and a half yojanas.
The army was stationed in the shape of a circle.
