Chapter 98: Bharata Locates Rāma’s Āśrama
Text 2.98.8
यावन्न चरणौ भ्रातुः पार्थिवव्यञ्जनान्वितौ।
शिरसा धारयिष्यामि न मे शान्तिर्भविष्यति॥
yāvan na caraṇau bhrātuḥ pārthiva-vyañjanānvitau
śirasā dhārayiṣyāmi na me śāntir bhaviṣyati
yāvat = as long as; na = do not; caraṇau = the feet; bhrātuḥ = of My brother; pārthiva-vyañjana-anvitau = that reveals the signs of a king; śirasā = on My head; dhārayiṣyāmi = I hold; na = not; me = I; śāntiḥ = any peace; bhaviṣyati = will have.
As long as I do not hold the feet of My brother that reveal the signs of a king on My head, I will not have any peace.
The signs of a Mahārāja on the feet are a lightning, a flag, a lotus, a pot of nectar and so on.
Bharata implied that He would become relieved from all distresses when Rāma accepts the crown of an emperor and a siṁhāsana which is appropriate for Him and places the crown of His own lotus feet on Bharata which was appropriate for Him.
