amātyān = ministers; upadhā-atītān = [such ministers] are beyond bribery; pitṛ-paitāmahān = and their fathers and grandfathers have also been such ministers; śucīn = and pure in body, mind and words; śreṣṭhān = first-class; śreṣṭheṣu = in first-class; kaccit = are; tvam = You; niyojayasi = engaging; karmasu = tasks.
Are You engaging first-class ministers in first-class tasks? [Such ministers] are beyond bribery and pure in body, mind and words, and their fathers
Upadhātītān indicates that such ministers are not interested in money and other assets that don’t belong to them and that they have been well-tested for their integrity 4. “Their fathers and grandfathers have also been such ministers” indicates that they have been hereditarily so.
