Chapter 100: Rāma Instructs Bharata About the Duties of a King

कच्चिद्बलस्य भक्तं च वेतनं च यथोचितम्।
संप्राप्तकालं दातव्यं ददासि न विलम्बसे॥
kaccid balasya bhaktaṁ ca vetanaṁ ca yathocitam
samprāpta-kālaṁ dātavyaṁ dadāsi na vilambase
kaccit = I hope; balasya = to Your army; bhaktam ca = grains; vetanam = salaries; ca = and; yathā-ucitam = as appropriate to their duties; samprāpta-kālam = monthly; dātavyam = at the right time; dadāsi = do You give out; na = don’t; vilambase = You delay [in such matters].
Do You give out grains and monthly salaries to Your army as appropriate to their duties and at the right time? I hope You don’t delay [in such matters].
The danger of delaying in this regard is stated in the next verse.
