Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 100: Rāma Instructs Bharata About the Duties of a King
Text 2.100.55

आयस्ते विपुलः कच्चित्कच्चिदल्पतरो व्ययः।
अपात्रेषु न ते कच्चित्कोशो गच्छति राघव॥

āyas te vipulaḥ kaccit kaccid alpataro vyayaḥ
apātreṣu na te kaccit kośo gacchati rāghava

āyaḥ = income; te = Your; vipulaḥ = high; kaccit = is; kaccit = is; alpataraḥ = lesser [than the income]; vyayaḥ = Your expenditure; apātreṣu = to undeserving persons; na = does not; te = Your; kaccit = I hope; kośaḥ = accumulated wealth; gacchati = go; rāghava = O descendant of Raghu.

O descendant of Raghu, is Your income high? Is Your expenditure lesser [than the income]? I hope Your accumulated wealth does not go to undeserving persons.

The second line means “I hope Your accumulated wealth is not unlimitedly given in charity to actors, comedians and singers [You like].”

Rāmacandra explains in the next verse how Bharata should spend His money.
