Chapter 101: Bharata Informs Rāma About Daśaratha’s Death
Text 2.101.8
प्रियेण खलु दत्तं हि पितृलोकेषु राघव।
अक्षय्यं भवतीत्याहुर्भवांश्चैव पितुः प्रियः॥
priyeṇa khalu dattaṁ hi pitṛ-lokeṣu rāghava
akṣayyaṁ bhavatīty āhur bhavāṁś caiva pituḥ priyaḥ
priyeṇa khalu = with love; dattam hi = that which is offered; pitṛ-lokeṣu = in the worlds of the pious forefathers; rāghava = O descendant of Raghu; akṣayyam = inexhaustible results; bhavati iti = produces; āhuḥ = [learned authorities] state that; bhavān = You are; ca = and; eva = certainly; pituḥ = to Our father; priyaḥ = dear.
“O descendant of Raghu, [learned authorities] state that that which is offered with love produces inexhaustible results in the worlds of the pious forefathers, and You are certainly dear to Our father.
He then points out that Rāma is dear to Their father in the next verse.
