Chapter 102: Rāma Performs Śrāddha for King Daśaratha
Text 2.102.26
प्रगृह्य च महीपालो जलपूरितमञ्जलिम्।
दिशं याम्यामभिमुखो रुदन्वचनमब्रवीत्॥
pragṛhya ca mahī-pālo jala-pūritam añjalim
diśaṁ yāmyām abhimukho rudan vacanam abravīt
pragṛhya = then cupped; ca = and; mahī-pālaḥ = the Lord of the earth; jala-pūritam = filled them with water; añjalim = His palms; diśam yāmyām = the south; abhimukhaḥ = facing; rudan = while weeping; vacanam = the following words; abravīt = He spoke.
The Lord of the earth then cupped His palms and filled them with water. Facing the south, He spoke the following words while weeping.
