Chapter 103: Rāma Meets His Mothers and Vasiṣṭha
Text 2.103.4
इदं तेषामनाथानां क्लिष्टमक्लिष्टकर्मणाम्।
वने प्राक्केवलं तीर्थं ये ते निर्विषयीकृताः॥
idaṁ teṣām anāthānāṁ kliṣṭam akliṣṭa-karmaṇām
vane prāk kevalaṁ tīrthaṁ ye te nirviṣayī-kṛtāḥ
idam = this; teṣām = by those; anāthānām = helpless souls; kliṣṭam = has been stepped on; akliṣṭa-karmaṇām = of nonduplicitous behavior; vane = in the forest; prāk = formerly; kevalam = certainly 1; tīrtham = ghat; ye = who; te = were well known to have been; nirviṣayī-kṛtāḥ = banished from the kingdom.
Certainly this ghat in the forest has been formerly stepped on by those helpless souls of nonduplicitous behavior who were well known to have been banished from the kingdom.
It was well known that Rāma, Lakṣmaṇa and Sītā-devī had been expelled from the kingdom.
GLOSS. [The glossator reads prāk-kalanam instead of prāk-kevalam indicating that] the ghāt had been used for several days.
