Chapter 103: Rāma Meets His Mothers and Vasiṣṭha
Text 2.103.12
चतुरन्तां महीं भुक्त्वा महेन्द्रसदृशो विभुः।
कथमिङ्गुदिपिण्याकं स भुङ्क्ते वसुधाधिपः॥
catur-antāṁ mahīṁ bhuktvā mahendra-sadṛśo vibhuḥ
katham iṅgudi-piṇyākaṁ sa bhuṅkte vasudhādhipaḥ
catuḥ-antām = surrounded by the four-oceans; mahīm = within this land; bhuktvā = having enjoyed; mahā-indra-sadṛśaḥ = who resembled the great Indra; vibhuḥ = powerful; katham = how can; iṅgudi-piṇyākam = this iṅgudī oilcake; saḥ bhuṅkte = eat; vasudhā-adhipaḥ = Lord of the earth.
Having enjoyed within this land surrounded by the four oceans, how can the powerful lord of the earth who resembled the great Indra eat this iṅgudī oilcake?
