Chapter 103: Rāma Meets His Mothers and Vasiṣṭha
Text 2.103.14
रामेणेङ्गुदिपिण्याकं पितुर्दत्तं समीक्ष्य मे।
कथं दुःखेन हृदयं न स्फोटति सहस्रधा॥
rāmeṇa iṅgudi-piṇyākaṁ pitur dattaṁ samīkṣya me
kathaṁ duḥkhena hṛdayaṁ na sphoṭati sahasradhā
rāmeṇa = by Rāma; iṅgudi-piṇyākam = the iṅgudī oilcake; pituḥ = to His father; dattam = offered; samīkṣya = after seeing; me = my; katham = why; duḥkhena = in distress; hṛdayam = heart; na = doesn’t; sphoṭati = shatter; sahasradhā = into a thousand pieces.
After seeing the iṅgudī oilcake offered by Rāma to His father, why doesn’t my heart shatter into a thousand pieces in distress?
