Chapter 103: Rāma Meets His Mothers and Vasiṣṭha
Text 2.103.27
ब्रुवन्त्यामेवमार्तायां जनन्यां भरताग्रजः।
पादावासाद्य जग्राह वसिष्ठस्य च राघवः॥
bruvantyām evam ārtāyāṁ jananyāṁ bharatāgrajaḥ
pādāv āsādya jagrāha vasiṣṭhasya ca rāghavaḥ
bruvantyām = were talking; evam = thus; ārtāyām = while the distressed; jananyām = mothers; bharata-agrajaḥ = Bharata’s elder brother; pādau = the feet; āsādya = approached; jagrāha = grasped; vasiṣṭhasya = of Vasiṣṭha; ca = and; rāghavaḥ = Rāghava.
While the distressed mothers were thus talking, Bharata’s elder brother Rāghava approached and grasped the feet of Vasiṣṭha.1
