Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 104: Bharata Beseeches Rāma to Rule the Kingdom
Text 2.104.16

कुलीनः सत्त्वसंपन्नस्तेजस्वी चरितव्रतः।
राज्यहेतोः कथं पापमाचरेत्त्वद्विधो जनः॥

kulīnaḥ sattva-sampannas tejasvī carita-vrataḥ
rājya-hetoḥ kathaṁ pāpam ācaret tvad-vidho janaḥ

kulīnaḥ = born in a great family; sattva-sampannaḥ = endowed with goodness; tejasvī = and prowess; carita-vrataḥ = and who has executed vows; rājya-hetoḥ = for the sake of a kingdom; katham =   how can; pāpam = a sinful activity; ācaret = commit; tvat-vidhaḥ = like You; janaḥ = a person.

How can a person like You born in a great family, endowed with goodness and prowess, and who has executed vows commit a sinful activity for the sake of a kingdom?

The “sinful activity” here refers to being unfavorable to [the views of] one’s elders.
