न त्वामेवं गुणैर्युक्तं प्रभवाभवकोविदम्।
अविषह्यतमं दुःखमासादयितुमर्हति।
एवमुक्त्वा तु भरतो रामं पुनरथाब्रवीत्॥
na tvām evaṁ guṇair yuktaṁ prabhavābhava-kovidam
aviṣahyatamaṁ duḥkham āsādayitum arhati
evam uktvā tu bharato rāmaṁ punar athābravīt
na = cannot; tvām = You; evam guṇair = with these transcendental attributes; yuktam = who are endowed; prabhava-abhava-kovidam = and who are aware of the origination and destruction of the creatures; aviṣahyatamam = that is most intolerable to us; duḥkham = distress; āsādayitum arhati = stultify; evam uktvā tu = having said this; bharataḥ = Bharata; rāmam = to Rāma [as follows]; punaḥ = again; atha abravīt = spoke.
“Distress that is most intolerable to us cannot stultify You who are endowed with these transcendental attributes and who are aware of the origination and destruction of the creatures.” Having said this, Bharata again spoke to Rāma [as follows].
“Distress that is most intolerable to us” refers to that due to Rāma’s loss of kingdom, residence in the forest and so on.
