Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 106: Bharata Persists in His Request
Text 2.106.14

साध्वर्थमभिसन्धाय क्रोधान्मोहाच्च साहसात्।
तातस्य यदतिक्रान्तं प्रत्याहरतु तद्भवान्॥

sādhv-artham abhisandhāya krodhān mohāc ca sāhasāt
tātasya yad atikrāntaṁ pratyāharatu tad bhavān

sādhu-artham = the bona fides of the matter; abhisandhāya = contemplating on; krodhāt = due to anger; mohāt = delusion; ca = and; sāhasāt = rashness; tātasya = Our father’s; yat atikrāntam = transgression [of dharma]; pratyāharatu tat bhavān = please undo.

Contemplating on the bona fides of the matter, please undo Our father’s transgression [of dharma] due to anger, delusion and rashness.

Daśaratha’s anger was directed to Kaikeyī who told him, “I will drink poison now itself” [if you don’t give the kingdom to Bharata]. His delusion was due to [his attachment to] Kaikeyī. His rashness was because of not having carefully considered the matter.
