Chapter 106: Bharata Persists in His Request
Text 2.106.35

तमृत्विजो नैगमयूथवल्लभास्तदा विसंज्ञाश्रुकलाश्च मातरः।
तथा ब्रुवाणं भरतं प्रतुष्टुवुः प्रणम्य रामं च ययाचिरे सह॥

tam ṛtvijo naigama-yūtha-vallabhās
tadā visaṁjñāśru-kalāś ca mātaraḥ
tathā bruvāṇaṁ bharataṁ pratuṣṭuvuḥ
praṇamya rāmaṁ ca yayācire saha

tam1 ṛtvijaḥ = the officiating priests; naigama-yūtha-vallabhāḥ = leading citizens 3; tadā = at that time; visaṁjñā-aśru-kalāḥ = became senseless with tears in their eyes; ca = and; mātaraḥ = His mothers; tathā = thus; bruvāṇam = who had spoken; bharatam = Bharata; pratuṣṭuvuḥ = they greatly appreciated; praṇamya = offered their respectful obeisances; rāmam ca = unto Rāma; yayācire = begged Him [to reconsider]; saha = at same time. 

The officiating priests, leading citizens and His mothers became senseless with tears in their eyes at that time. They greatly appreciated Bharata who had spoken thus. At the same time they offered their respectful obeisances unto Rāma and prayed to Him [to reconsider His decision].
