Chapter 107: Rāma Explains why the King Gave the Kingdom to Kaikeyī
Text 2.107.8
सोऽहं वनमिदं प्राप्तो निर्जनं लक्ष्मणान्वितः।
सीतया चाप्रतिद्वन्द्वः सत्यवादे स्थितः पितुः॥
so ’haṁ vanam idaṁ prāpto nirjanaṁ lakṣmaṇānvitaḥ
sītayā cāpratidvandvaḥ satya-vāde sthitaḥ pituḥ
saḥ aham = I; vanam = to forest; idam = this; prāptaḥ = have come; nirjanam = lonely; lakṣmaṇa-anvitaḥ = with Lakṣmaṇa; sītayā = Sītā; ca = and; apratidvandvaḥ = [thus] with none to prevent Me; satya-vāde = on the truthful words; sthitaḥ = I am fixed; pituḥ = of Our father.
[Thus] with none to prevent Me, I have come to this lonely forest with Lakṣmaṇa and Sītā. I am fixed on the truthful words of Our father.
