निर्मर्यादस्तु पुरुषः पापाचारसमन्वितः।
मानं न लभते सत्सु भिन्नचारित्रदर्शनः॥
nirmaryādas tu puruṣaḥ pāpācāra-samanvitaḥ
mānaṁ na labhate satsu bhinna-cāritra-darśanaḥ
nirmaryādaḥ tu = beyond the boundaries of Vedic behavior; puruṣaḥ = a man; pāpa-ācāra-samanvitaḥ = becomes involved in sinful activities; mānam = honored; na labhate = he is not; satsu = by the saintly; bhinna-cāritra-darśanaḥ = because he propagates a view that propounds a conduct that is distinct from Vedic prescriptions.
A man beyond the boundaries of Vedic behavior becomes involved in sinful activities because he propagates a view that propounds a conduct that is distinct from Vedic prescriptions. He is not honored by the saintly.
1 One should not live in a delusion that the saintly don’t criticize. They benevolently criticize attitudes, opinions and activities that are self-destructive or world-destructive.
Rāma then criticizes a person who propounds such [anti-Vedic] ideas—such a man is only criticized by the saintly.1
