वनवासं वसन्नेवं शुचिर्नियतभोजनः।
मूलैः पुष्पैः फलैः पुण्यैः पितृदेवांश्च तर्पयन्॥
संतुष्टपञ्चवर्गोऽहं लोकयात्रां प्रवर्तये।
अकुहः श्रद्दधानः सन्कार्याकार्यविचक्षणः॥
vana-vāsaṁ vasann evaṁ śucir niyata-bhojanaḥ
mūlaiḥ puṣpaiḥ phalaiḥ puṇyaiḥ pitṛ-devāṁś ca tarpayan
santuṣṭa-pañca-vargo ’haṁ loka-yātrāṁ pravartaye
akuhaḥ śraddadhānaḥ san kāryākārya-vicakṣaṇaḥ
vana-vāsam vasan evam = I reside in the forest; śuciḥ = in purity; niyata-bhojanaḥ = My eating is regulated; mūlaiḥ = with roots; puṣpaiḥ = fruits; phalaiḥ = fuits; puṇyaiḥ = pious; pitṛ-devān = the pious forefathers and devas; ca = and; tarpayan = I satisfy; santuṣṭa-pañca-vargaḥ = My five senses are satisfied; aham = I; loka-yātrām = serving the world 2; pravartaye = am engaged in; akuhaḥ = without duplicity; śraddadhānaḥ san = with faith; kārya-akārya-vicakṣaṇaḥ = and caution about what to do and what to not do.
I reside in the forest in purity. My eating is regulated. I satisfy the pious forefathers and devas with roots, fruits and pious fruits. My five senses are satisfied. I am engaged in serving the world without duplicity, with faith and caution about what to do and what to not do.
Rāma’s service to the world was by carrying out the instruction of His father.
