Chapter 109: Rāma Refutes Jābāli
Text 2.109.31

सत्यं च धर्मं च पराक्रमं च भूतानुकम्पां प्रियवादितां च।
द्विजातिदेवातिथिपूजनं च पन्थानमाहुस्त्रिदिवस्य सन्तः॥

satyaṁ ca dharmaṁ ca parākramaṁ ca
bhūtānukampāṁ priyavāditāṁ ca
dvijāti-devātithi-pūjanaṁ ca
panthānam āhus tridivasya santaḥ

satyam ca = truthfulness; dharmam ca = adherence to Vedic teachings; parākramam ca = prowess in performance of scriptural austerities; bhūta-anukampām = compassion for all creatures; priyavāditām = being sweet in speech; ca = as well as; dvijāti-deva-atithi-pūjanam ca = honoring the twiceborn, devas and uninvited guests; panthānam = that the path; āhuḥ = declare; tridivasya = to heavens consists of; santaḥ = saints.

Saints declare that the path to the heavens consists of truthfulness, adherence to Vedic teachings, prowess in performance of scriptural austerities, compassion for all creatures, being sweet in speech as well as honoring the twiceborn, devas and uninvited guests.
