Chapter 110: Vasiṣṭha Requests Rāma to Accept the Throne
Text 2.110.11
अनरण्यान्महाबाहुः पृथू राजा बभूव ह।
तस्मात्पृथोर्महाराजस्त्रिशङ्कुरुदपद्यत।
स सत्यवचनाद्वीरः सशरीरो दिवं गतः॥
anaraṇyān mahā-bāhuḥ pṛthū rājā babhūva ha
tasmāt pṛthor mahā-rājas triśaṅkur udapadyata
sa satya-vacanād vīraḥ saśarīro divaṁ gataḥ
anaraṇyāt = from Anaraṇya; mahā-bāhuḥ = mighty-armed; pṛthuḥ = Pṛthu; rājā = King; babhūva ha = was born; tasmāt pṛthoḥ = from Pṛthu; mahā-rājaḥ = Mahārāja; triśaṅkuḥ = Triśaṅku; udapadyata = was born; saḥ = that; satya-vacanāt = due to a promise; vīraḥ = hero; saśarīraḥ = with his selfsame body; divam = the heavens; gataḥ = attained.
“Mighty-armed King Pṛthu was born from Anaraṇya. Mahārāja Triśaṅku was born from Pṛthu. Due to a promise, that hero attained the heavens with his selfsame body.
GLOSS. [Triśaṅku attained the heavens with his selfsame body] due to a promise by Viśvāmitra: “I will send you to Svarga.”
