Chapter 110: Vasiṣṭha Requests Rāma to Accept the Throne
Text 2.110.23

स राजा सगरो नाम यः समुद्रमखानयत्।
इष्ट्वा पर्वणि वेगेन त्रासयन्तमिमाः प्रजाः॥

sa rājā sagaro nāma yaḥ samudram akhānayat
iṣṭvā parvaṇi vegena trāsayantam imāḥ prajāḥ

saḥ rājā = the king; sagaraḥ = Sagara; nāma = named; yaḥ = who; samudram = had the ocean; akhānayat = dug up; iṣṭvā = had become initiated into a sacrifice; parvaṇi = of tidal waves on a full-moon night; vegena = by the force; trāsayantam = which frightened; imāḥ prajāḥ = the creatures.

“The king named Sagara who had become initiated into a sacrifice had the ocean, which frightened the creatures by the force of tidal waves on a full-moon night, dug up.
