Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 111: Rāma Agrees to Accept the Throne After Returning to Ayodhyā
Text 2.111.15

स तु राममवेक्षन्तं सुमन्त्रं प्रेक्ष्य दुर्मनाः।
कुशोत्तरमुपस्थाप्य भूमावेवास्तरत्स्वयम्॥

sa tu rāmam avekṣantaṁ sumantraṁ prekṣya durmanāḥ
kuśottaram upasthāpya bhūmāv evāstarat svayam

saḥ tu = Bharata; rāmam = at Rāma; avekṣantam = was looking; sumantram = Sumantra; prekṣya = upon noticing that; durmanāḥ = became distressed; kuśa-uttaram = kuśa grass; upasthāpya = He then brought; bhūmau eva = on the ground to make a bed of kuśa grass; āstarat = spread it; svayam = and personally.

Upon noticing that Sumantra was looking at Rāma, [waiting for His approval], Bharata became distressed. He then brought kuśa grass and personally spread it on the ground to make a bed of kuśa grass.

GLOSS. Bharata was very distressed that Sumantra looked at Rāma’s face without doing what he had been told.
