Text 2.111.19
आसीनस्त्वेव भरतः पौरजानपदं जनम्।
उवाच सर्वतः प्रेक्ष्य किमार्यं नानुशासथ॥
āsīnas tv eva bharataḥ paura-jānapadaṁ janam
uvāca sarvataḥ prekṣya kim āryaṁ nānuśāsatha
āsīnaḥ tu eva = while remaining seated; bharataḥ = Bharata; paura-jānapadam janam = at the people from the city and the countryside; uvāca = and said; sarvataḥ = all around; prekṣya = looked; kim = why; āryam = noble Rāma; na = don’t you; anuśāsatha = request.
While remaining seated, Bharata looked all around at the people from the city and the countryside and said, “Why don’t you request noble Rāma?”
GLOSS. “Why don’t you request noble Rāma?” means “Why don’t you instruct noble Rāma to return to Ayodhyā?”
