Chapter 111: Rāma Agrees to Accept the Throne After Returning to Ayodhyā
Text 2.111.20

ते तमूचुर्महात्मानं पौरजानपदा जनाः।
काकुत्स्थमभिजानीमः सम्यग्वदति राघवः॥

te tam ūcur mahātmānaṁ paura-jānapadā janāḥ
kākutstham abhijānīmaḥ samyag vadati rāghavaḥ

te tam = Bharata; ūcuḥ = told; mahā-ātmānam = the great soul; paura-jānapadāḥ janāḥ = the people from the city and the country; kākutstham = the descendant of Kakutstha; abhijānīmaḥ = we know very well; samyak = correctly; vadati = speaks; rāghavaḥ = Rāghava.

The people from the city and the country told the great soul Bharata, “We know the descendant of Kakutstha very well. Rāghava speaks correctly.

They knew that Rāma was truthful to His promise. In the next verse they prove that Rāma speaks correctly.
