Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 113: Bharata Returns to Ayodhyā
Text 2.113.16

नैतच्चित्रं नरव्याघ्र शीलवृत्तवतां वर।
यदार्यं त्वयि तिष्ठेत्तु निम्ने सृष्टमिवोदकम्॥

naitac citraṁ nara-vyāghra śīla-vṛttavatāṁ vara
yad āryaṁ tvayi tiṣṭhet tu nimne sṛṣṭam ivodakam

na = not; etat = it is; citram = wonderful; nara-vyāghra = O prince; śīla-vṛttavatām = of those with good character and conduct; vara = You are the best; yat = that; āryam = this nobility; tvayi = in You; tiṣṭhet tu = is held; nimne = in a pond; sṛṣṭam = is held; iva = just as; udakam = water.

O prince, You are the best of those with good character and conduct. It is not wonderful that this nobility is held in You just as water is held in a pond.1

1 A pond naturally prevents water from oozing out. Similarly Bharata naturally prevents His nobility from leaving Him.
