Chapter 114: Ayodhyā’s loss of Splendor

अल्पोष्णक्षुब्धसलिलां घर्मोत्तप्तविहंगमाम्।
लीनमीनझषग्राहां कृशां गिरिनदीमिव॥
alpoṣṇa-kṣubdha-salilāṁ gharmottapta-vihaṅgamām
līna-mīna-jhaṣa-grāhāṁ kṛśāṁ giri-nadīm iva
alpa-uṣṇa-kṣubdha-salilām = the water in the city was warm and contaminated; gharma-uttapta-vihaṅgamām = the birds were burning in the heat of the sun; līna-mīna-jhaṣa-grāhām = whose small fish, large fish and crocodiles hid themselves; kṛśām = an emaciated; giri-nadīm = mountain river; iva = Ayodhyā appeared to be.
The water in the city was warm and contaminated. The birds were burning in the heat of the sun. Ayodhyā appeared to be an emaciated mountain river whose small fish, large fish and crocodiles hid themselves.
